Your First Visit
Patient Forms
Upon entering our office our receptionist will greet you and welcome you. We will request you fill our patient forms located in the New Patient Center. The paperwork provides us with general information about you and your condition.
Consultation
Next you will have a consultation with Dr. Carrie Welch to discuss your current condition, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. Your first visit is designed for Dr. Carrie Welch to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate.
Examination
After your consultation, Dr. Carrie Welch will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
X-Ray Studies
We do not take X-rays. Most of the time X-rays are completely unnecessary and there are very specific guidlines to regulate their use. If it is determined that X-rays are needed, you will be referred to a board certified radiologist. We have several in the area that we work closely with. We believe that you deserve the very best care possible, and that means using a specialist in every field. Adjustments by a doctor of chiropractic, acupuncture by a doctor of oriental medicine, and X-rays by a board certified radiologist.
Report of Findings
After discussing with you your history and your goals, examining your spine and reviewing any x-rays or tests, Dr. Carrie Welch will discuss her recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you. If Dr. Carrie Welch believes we can help you, she will recommend a treatment plan.
Adjustments and Physical Therapy
Patients will generally be given their first treatment at the conclusion of the appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. Treatment is interactive with you so you can express any concerns you have about the style of adjustment you will be most comfortable with.
Treatment Plan
Prior to leaving, patients will be given a treatment plan. This plan usually includes instructions on what to do at home. You may be given ice or heat application instructions, home exercise or stretches, as well as advise to avoid certain activities or positions. Every body is unique and different and therefore everyone requires a unique and customized treatment plan. The foundation for feeling good, is maintaining spinal flexibility, stress relief, eating a healthy diet, keeping your weight under control.
